My husband and I found this place on what was probably the worst day we’d had in years and the staff the atmosphere and the whole vibe gave us the best night we’d had in a while. We went back tonight for the second time and the result was the same! To the owners, thank you for opening this place. To the staff (Israel, and all the beautiful ladies) thank you. We’re grateful for your service and incredible hospitality. If you’re on the fence, go! If you’ve been, go back and if you’ve never gone, add it to your calendar! 10/10 recommend!

A very relaxing upscale spot to get out of the sun, cool off, have a glass of wine and a snack. The wine selection is fantastic, especially the local stuff... and the Deviled Eggs are ridiculously good.

My sister and I went for a nice brunch. We went for the artichoke dip and because it was brunch hour we could not get it. I understand that there may be times for certain items but... how hard is it to make artichoke dip. We ended up getting a few appetizers but honestly we ended up spending $100 on 4 drinks and 2 appetizers and it just seemed a little expensive. The place is very cute but I think brunch shouldn't be that much for 2 people. The service was slow.

Owner response

Hi Leanna - we appreciate you trying Rebel for brunch today and we are sad to hear that it did not meet your expectations. You are correct, it is not hard to make spinach artichoke dip; however, we do not have a traditional kitchen and with plenty of trial and error to figure out what works best to keep the flow of brunch going smoothly when the restaurant is packed, we have to utilize the same methods even when it isn’t packed, which makes certain things unavailable on the line during those hours. This is also why we publish our full menus online, with hours and pricing. We like to avoid unpleasant surprises as much as anyone else. We would be happy to give you a tour of our small kitchen to help better understand why we operate the way we do if you’d like to reach out to info@rebelwinelounge.com to coordinate a time. Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of the rising cost of goods in this economy when it comes to pricing and we keep our margins as thin as we can, which is still very competitively priced for the area and the industry. $79.39 (before tax and tip) for a meat and cheese board, breakfast potatoes, caprese appetizer, two espresso martini's and two glasses of wine is pretty standard. We also apologize that service was slow and will address this with our staff. We hope this helps clear things up a bit and wish you a wonderful remainder of your Sunday Funday with your sister!

Rebel has consistently delivered the many times I’ve been there. Between A+ service, food, drink, knowledgeable and helpful staff, and the gorgeous aesthetic of the place, this place is one of my most favorite. The live music, pop-up events, and lovely patio are all a great bonus in creating the perfect experience. You won’t be disappointed.

My wife made reservations for 6:15 PM since we had a 8 pm show that night. Got seated pretty quick after getting there on time. Within 5 minutes we ordered a bottle of wine and 2 apps, meatballs and the caprese salad. Wine came out in 5 minutes, our server was very nice and asked if we were seeing a show or anything that night. Told her that we had a 8 PM show at that time and then put in an order for the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. We were enjoying our wine and having a good time. 6:45 rolled around and we asked our server to check on our food. 7:15 pm rolls up and we started talking about cancelling it food order and figure out a backup plan since we're starving at that point. We were able to flag down our server at this point, since we hadn't had a chance after she never gave us an update on our food. She finally told us it would be 8 more minutes, my wife wanted to wait, I wanted to leave and just pay for the wine at that point. We waited. The apps came out at 7:30 and we rushed to eat them. Food was decent and hot. Our server came back 10 minutes after and gave us the check and said they took off the grilled cheese and tomato bisque since we never got it and we had to leave. She also gave us a 15% off card for next time. I turned around and gave it to the people behind us because I'm not sure if we'll be back. I did explain my frustration to the server, telling her they could have given us a heads up they only have one person in the kitchen and your good might take over an hour or more to come out when we told her that had a show at 8 PM. We were prompt with our orders and thought we set an expectation that we didn't have all night, nothing was taken off our bill, turned a little stressful worrying about the food and making the show on time for our date night. We still tipped decently because the kitchen was not her fault. Better communication and taking care of your guests would have gone a long way. We ran into another group at the show that we saw eating there and they told us they had to eat their food in the car on the way over to the show and had the same experience. Would recommend not eating here before going to a show on a busy night.

Owner response

We apologize for the lackluster experience, Brandon. We are continually working to improve our processes for the unexpected pre-show rushes. The issue is not so much how many people we have in the kitchen as much as the size and limited nature of our small, untraditional kitchen when the restaurant fills up quickly and all of the orders go back at the same time. Processes that have been painful for everyone in these isolated instances and we certainly don't ever want to happen. Future locations will be set up with a more traditional kitchen to mitigate the lessons we've learned in downtown Mesa. Thank you for giving us a try and please accept our sincerest apologies again for the poor experience. We understand and respect your decision not to give us a second chance. We will be certain to address your yelp review with the same information as well.

This wine bar is such a vibe! Super cute decor, and good food too. Our go-to's are the spinach and artichoke dip, the meatballs and the cookie.
